A Prayer For Those On A Mission

 

 

Jehovah God, whose loving care is our peace and our joy, this week we lift into Your presence all those who wish to share the good news of the Gospel with those in a distant land.  We especially ask that You would watch over and care for those from our congregation who have chosen to make such a journey this week.  With the words of the Psalmist: “May their help come from You, the maker of heaven and earth."  Do not let their feet slip, watch over them.  Be their shade.  Do not let the sun smite them by day nor the moon by night.  Keep them from harm and in Your grace watch over them, in their coming and their going, both now and forever more.

 

Help them as they prepare the messages they will share in the numerous crusades in which they will participate.  May they be much in prayer as they prepare these messages relying on You for their every thought and word.   Help them to envision the many hungry hearts that will be, by divine appointment, assembled in those crusades.  May Your Holy Spirit work miracles of healing of body, mind and soul.    May there be much evidence that the idea of the trip originated first in Your mind before being planned by those who have been moved to go.  

 

We pray that You will make each of Your servants bold and brave to share the good news of the Gospel not only in the mass meetings but in the streets, on the buses, wherever they eat and wherever the sleep.  May they not worry about what to say or how to say it, for at that time, You have promised to put words in their mouths, so it will not be they that speak but You will be speaking through them.

 

We pray for the Pastor’s Conference and for Pastor Johnson as he seeks to encourage, enlighten and build up the faith of those who minister in the local churches.  May he lift up Jesus, proclaim his love and present the Word in clarity and power.  May he lift up the weary, strengthen the weak and empower each one to return to their place of service with a fresh confidence that they will be used as mighty instruments to exalt the Savior, reach the lost and empower the church of Jesus Christ to be a shining light in the communities in which they serve.

 

We ask, O Father, that you will restrain the evil one.  May every attack by Satan be overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit.  May the evil spirits be bound and may the Holy Spirit be the victor in every encounter. May the struggles of the heart be visible as people throw off the old and put on the helmet of salvation, the belt of truth, the shield of faith and the breast plate of righteousness.

 

O God, grant that this mission may not only have eternal significance for those who go but may the church from which they have gone be forever changed.  This we pray in the highest and holiest of names.     Amen
