A Prayer For A Cure For The Incurable

 

 

Eternal God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and our father through Him, we rejoice in Your love and mercy, Your faithfulness and goodness, Your power and Your wisdom.  Please be patient with us as we lay before You a sincere and ardent request.  This morning we are praying for all those who spend their lives seeking a cure for the many incurable diseases from which so many suffer.  We are reminded of the Psalmist who wrote, “He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.”  We have come to know the joy of sins forgiven, but many wait for the healing of their diseases.  Can it truly be that You can heal every disease?  Or is the Psalmist seeking only to give a testimony of Your sovereignty over all diseases?   Or is he teaching that You have the power to heal every disease but make no claim to healing us of all our diseases?  We do know that from time to time You have miraculously healed even those with an incurable disease, but it is abundantly clear that most of the time You bring healing through the gifts, learning, experience, dedication and devotion of those who labor untiringly to find such cures.    In the past You have brought healing to such incurable diseases as Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, Small Pox and more recently Polio by bringing forth vaccines and serums which bring a cure to the incurable diseases.  Can we not hope that in answer to our prayers, You will do the same for Blindness, Deafness, Cancer, Parkinson, Lou Gehrig, Alzheimer, Autism, and other, presently incurable diseases?

 

As Your people in the past have prayed that the day would come when those in research would find a cure for the incurable, so we today pray for those who labor long and tedious hours to find a cure for the diseases which shorten life and bring pain and hurt to so many.  We pray for chemists, biologists, physicists, psychologist, radiologists, physicians and others who are devoted to finding cures for those diseases which cause much suffering and sorrow.  Enlighten their minds that they might have a greater understanding of such diseases.  Give them the ability to connect the dots that will eventually lead to the results they wish.  May they remain ever hopeful and ever believing that some day You will unlock the secrets to cures for all diseases. We would especially remember John Kansas, a radio technician, who has recently found that radio waves can be used to kill cancer cells.  May what he has used to cure mice in the laboratory prove to be successful in healing humans.

 

Heavenly Father, give to us who pray for the finding of such cures, the faith to believe that such cures will come.  That this generation, like past generations, may  witness Your love and power in the curing of that which now brings helplessness and hopelessness.  May we remain diligent in our prayers, never doubting that You have the power, not only to forgive us of our sin, but to heal us of our disease.
